On this episode of the Freedom Train Podcast Series we discussed disaster preparedness, the removal of confederate monuments, and black people who are trying hard to be remembered in the pages of history. With the latest disasters to his Texas and Louisiana we felt we needed to have a conversation about disaster preparedness, so we can begin to make plans to be better prepared. Our community has a history of being reactionary and able to withstand anything. The problem with this mindset is we will always be victims and always playing catch up. We have to become more proactive in protecting ourselves and our communities. We also discussed the taking down of the confederate monuments around the country; is this a waste of time? Are these monuments so important that we should devote our attention to the monuments instead of building our community? Lastly, we discussed black people whose intention are to be remembered instead of truly uplifting our community. Tune in to hear our thoughts.
