This week on the Freedom Train Podcast Series, Joseph and Patrick mentioned Terry Cruse, Ben Carson and Muhammad Ali Jr., in the opening discussions because they all made comments against Black Americans that will make you scratch your head. The focus of the podcast was on the tragic death of black rights activist Oluwatoyin Salau, who was brutally murdered in Tallahassee, FL a few weeks ago. The gentlemen look at the details of the murder and try to think how her community could have better helped her. They also look at the man who confessed to the murder of Toyin Salau, Aaron Glee, Jr, a man who was mentally unstable who also killed a 75 year old woman Vicki Sims along with Salau.

Dr. Mukasa Afrika Ma'at Interview

Mukasa Afrika Ma’at earned a Bachelor of Arts in Black Studies from Chicago State University. He earned a Master of Science in Education Administration from Gwynedd Mercy University and a Master of Arts in Inner-City Studies Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. His Doctorate of Education was earned from Gwynedd Mercy University. The dissertation study is entitled Rites of Passage, and it is on how rites instruction correlates to reducing antisocial behaviors.  He is an historian, author, blogger, and poet. He has done critical essays on Black Leadership, politics, and culture along with extensive research and essays on Afrikan-Centered education. Mukasa Ma’at is a Black Belt martial arts instructor who developed and founded Ma’at-Sumu, a full mixed-martial arts combat system. He has been a teacher and education administrator of Afrikan-Centered schools. He has supported Afrikan-Centered schools and CIBI. He founded the International Black Independent School Organization (NBIO) which provides scholarships to culturally relevant Black schools. He is an education advocate for poor children and blogs on funding equity and access globally.

On this week's episode of The Freedom Train Podcast Series, Joseph and Patrick discuss the importance of organization, mobilization and strategy in fighting to break down systematic racism. We currently have protest happening in all 50 states and countries across the world, but how can we capitalize off of this momentum we have? The gentlemen explain actions steps communities can take before, during and after the protest to build forward. They also make suggestions for organizing communities who are not yet organized. They believe we can be more effective if the community and the protest are supporting each other and have a sound strategy for combating police, or any kind of violence that threatens them. Cyrah Hawkins Interview

In May of 2020, Mr. Cyrah Hawkins and his family were harassed by two officers on the Suisun City police force. A mistaken identity and a lack of proper information led to an incident between Mr. Hawkins and former officer Marler. In this interview, Mr. Hawkins will give us details about his unfortunate incident, and gives us tips on how the black community can rally around all victims of police harassment/violence. 

Cyrah Austin Hawkins (born March 3, 1984) is an African-American actor/dancer best known for booking 6 national commercials in his rookie acting career and working on the feature-film Safe House where he was privileged to with Denzel Washington (Tobin Frost) in a one-on-one scene. As a dancer, Hawkins has worked with several artists/groups, including, Ciara, Estelle, and Airborne Toxic Event to name a few. He was born in York, PA and raised in Atlanta, GA. With both parents serving in the US ARMY, Hawkins followed suit and joined the Florida Army National Guard as well as simultaneously joining FAMU's Army ROTC program. Hawkins possesses an eclectic set of military skills which he utilizes on several television series such as Louie, Sons of Anarchy and Children's Hospital. He graduated from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL in 2009 with a BA in Criminal Justice. Hawkins resides in Hollywood as a celebrity health coach and is an Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. member of distinction.

Protesting Black Death

This week on the Freedom Train Podcast Series, Joseph and Patrick go deep into breaking down the reason people are protesting the death of unarmed black people by the police or white supremacist. Their is a psychology behind the racism we face on a daily basis, the gentlemen do their best to dive into that psychology to help listeners understand what is happening to us. America has been consistent for over 400 in it's oppression and killing of black people. We are tired of being killed, we are tired of being oppressed, we are tired of being tired, Tune in as the gentlemen make sense of our current situation and get their frustration out. We will take a stand and we will not stop until we are truly safe and free!!!
