This week on Lessons from the Screen we will be talking about the 2018 State of the Union address given by Donald Trump after his first year in office. We will be breaking down what was said and what wasn’t said as it concern Black People. We will be addressing any takeaways and in general just covering relevant points to our community.
Yesterday we heard the first state of the union from Donald Trump as he has completed his first year in office. In an event that was boycotted by some democrats, trump spoke about several themes concerning unity, immigration, economics, and the greatness of the American Nation. The speech was the third longest state of the union address in the history of state of the union addresses running a total of 80 minutes and saw many cheering points for Republicans and Trump supporters. But was there anything of any substance for Black People? Any language direct or codified that we should be paying attention to? Any takeaways?
