Catalonia is a story that has been in development for hundreds of years and at this moment we are in a hotspot of activity. Daily there is a new development teaching us more lessons about our position in America and what options we may have on the table as it concerns growing talks for independence and sovereignty. The Catalan's have been pushing for independence for centuries and over the past hundred years they have had a number of independence referendums which usually result in an overwhelming number of votes for independence from Spain. Just recently in October of this year 2017 they had another that had a turnout of over 2.5 million people in a region with a population of only 7.5 million people with a result of 90% in favor of independence from Spain. In this episode of Lessons from the Screen we will be looking at this story as it has developed up to the current point of this show being recorded. We will look briefly at the history of the situation and some of the factors being considered. But we will most definitely be getting into the lessons that can be learned from this situation, especially amid a growing surge of Black Power Speakers pushing for Black Sovereignty and independence from America. ![]()
