Samori Swygert, a renaissance man of the times. He was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, New York. A jack of many trades and master of some. A self-described man of many passions. A graduate of Hampton University with a bachelor in Biology (2001), continuing at Hampton, he received his Master’s in Medical Science (2003), he furthered his education at Howard University where he graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy (2007). Currently and professionally, he’s a practicing intensive care unit pharmacist. Outside of the practice of pharmacy is where he truly flexes his mental muscles. The last year of his pharmacy school, Samori published a book of poetry entitled: Black I/Eye on America. This book of poetry addresses many of the social injustices, double standard disparities between class and race, and an introspective tour of his universe. Dr. Swygert is also regular radio show host on the Source Radio Network, his show is called the Pendulum, and it airs every Wednesday at 8pm. Samori released a #1 Best Selling album under the quiet storm category on Amazon in 2015. The album is entitled: P.O.R.N. (Poetry. Oration. Rhythm. Narratives.). This album is a breath of fresh air, some say that it’s the 21st century Love Jones Soundtrack. This album is created with all original music, with real instrumentation. The production was done with an intercollegiate production team from Hampton, Norfolk State, and Howard University. Dr. Swygert has also produced an audiobook entitled: Speak On IT, Mandatory Conversations for Black America. Samori has been a regular blogger and contributor for Dr. Boyce Watkins Your Black World and Financial Juneteenth for 4 years. His current project is a documentary film series entitled, Black AND Woman, and this addresses many of the cultural, social, professional, political, economic, and historical injustices and hurdles that Black Women have had and continue to endure despite new achievements in the 21st Century.
