Fred "FJ" Sweet is a serial entrepreneur whose fundamental philosophy is to monetize his passions. He enjoys world traveling, which exposes him to other cultures and ways of doing things. This allows him to gain new experience and life lessons, that have served to propel him in his business and interpersonal endeavors.
Education: His early childhood education began in Tallahassee at FAMU DRS and he later went on to graduate from James S. Rickard High. After high school he attended his top choice institutuion of higher education, Florida A&M University. Initially he sought to pursue a degree in architecture, but found it too subjective and decided to study at FAMU-FSU College of engineering. After finishing in 2006 he went on to work with engineering firms in Tallahassee until the recession of 2008. Introduction to entrepreneurship: After working for a couple local engineering firms he became a contactor. After years of creating plans for projects that range from house foundations in Southwood to drainage and parking of FAMU DRS, he was discontent with receiving a few dollars per hour for projects that generated thousands. So, he decided to contact his services instead of working as an employee. The need to Diversify: Becoming a Civil Engineering contractor in 2008 and facing a national recession, he was forced to find a new field of work. After not receiving thousands in pay for several projects due to the clape of the housing market, he looked to create multiple streams of income so that he would not find himself in such a financial situation again. This was the genesis to the multitude of companies, businesses, and projects that he now oversees today. Link Up Tally Inc is a non-profit organization found by Darian Davis back in 2015 as an effort of bridging the gaps of educational disparities within the poverty-stricken areas of the Tallahassee community. Having grown up in the low-income housing developments of the Tallahassee community, and consistently frequenting those areas until present day, Mr. Davis knows exactly what those disparities look like. Deciding to do something about it led to the first annual Link Up Weekend event (July 2015). This is a weekend geared around community engagement and community awareness, where there’s spotlight upon issues within the community and resources brought in to bring about resolution to those issues. Friday is dedicated towards adults, Saturday the youth, and Sunday is closed out with a community pool party/cookout.
From here Link Up Tally Inc has hosted numerous events from resource and career fairs, food and clothing giveaways, to community parties for the youth. Currently, Link Up Tally Inc has started a full curriculum afterschool program for youth grades k-12. This is a culturally based educational program geared to build awareness and understanding of one’s individual self, culture and history, critical thinking, economics, financial literacy, and generational wealth building. The goal is to simply create a haven and atmosphere of greatness. Link Up Tally Inc has much more to come because the vision for community wellness is an ever-growing task. This week on the Freedom Train Podcast, Joseph sits down with Mr. Terrance L. Barber. Mr. Barber is running for Leon County Commission District 1. We get to learn more about Mr. Barber, how he has contributed to the economic growth of Tallahassee, FL, and why he chose to run for Leon County Commission District 1.
I grew up right here in Leon County. I watched my late mother dedicate 42 years of her life working for the county before she passed on. Her life inspired me to continue the work to make our community better. My father was an entrepreneur, which taught me the importance and value of owning your own business. From job creation to charitable giving, I’ve seen what prosperous businesses can do with a fair chance to succeed in our local marketplace. But, for too long, the needs of our community have been neglected as I’ve witnessed a district slowly transform into something other than the affluent sector I once knew. It is my commitment to make the economic development of our district a priority to decision-makers — and no longer an afterthought. To learn more about Mr. Barber click the button below Terrance L. This week on the Freedom Train Podcast Series, Pat and Joe get a few things off of their chests. The first topic covered is the men asking the question, what behaviors did we exhibit that contributed to a mandate of the jab? We know in many places across the country people just decided to do what the hell they wanted to do. That behavior along with an incompetent presidential administration, and the abundance of mis-information, we believe led to the mandates. How will our behavior change if we want to live different? Pat found a text a father posted on Facebook telling the world the advice he gave his son before going on a date. The father did a great job of making sure his son has no self-worth, no value, and will be a simp in life. So they go in on the father. The last topic is the issue of the red pill community vs. the modern woman level up community. Both sides are angry at the other, both think they are better than the other, both are receiving horrible advice, and our community is losing as a whole. Tune in!!!
